● For a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. A student should be fever-free without fever-reducing medication (such as Tylenol or Motrin) for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
● Vomiting and/or diarrhea. Students may return to school 24 hours after the last episode.
● Suspected/untreated communicable disease (i.e. chicken pox).
● Suspected/untreated bacterial infection of the eyes (i.e. conjunctivitis), nose, throat (i.e. strep throat), skin (i.e. scabies), or scalp.
● Students should stay home for the first 24 hours of antibiotic therapy.
● Rash with fever or behavior change, until a healthcare provider determines that these symptoms do not indicate a communicable disease.
● Illness which prevents students from participating comfortably in school activities (i.e. excessive coughing or excessive fatigue).
● Illness which results in greater care needs than school staff can provide without compromising the health and safety of other students.
